Hello there to all our blog viewers, releasing today on our Startup Theatre is a Tourism based Tech startup based out of Bengaluru. Started up individually by Mr. Rajesh Kumar, Highway Delite provides information and transaction based platform for highway commuters in our country.
Story behind the Idea of the Startup?
Mr. Rajesh Kumar, the founder of Highway Delite hails from a defence family background and has travelled length and breadth of India during his schooling.
By education, he is a Mechanical Engineer from KLESCET, Belgaum (VTU), and MBA from SDMIMD, Mysore.
He loves travelling and was highly motivated to solve the challenges we face as a country in multiple areas. One such problem we face is to have safe and hygienic road travel in India on highways without any fear and surprise!
He had a chance to be part of some challenging consulting assignments during his job in which he travelled more than 10,000 kms on Indian highways and experienced the problems which Highway Delite is addressing.
Mr. Rajesh says "I was convinced about the problem and started as single founder, since May 2015, with no idea about how to go about it" . Since starting Highway Delite, he has travelled and verified data of about 3500+kms of highways by staying roughly about 70 nights on highways.
Product/Service provided by the Startup?
Highway Delite is a verified information and transaction based mobile platform for commuters on Indian highway to view information and transact with highway services including restaurants and other necessary services -medical facilities, petrol stations, mechanic, toilets, lodge/hotels., in a real time location basis.
The mobile app platform has facilities information and photos of verified restaurants, fuel pumps, lodge including photos of restroom. Further, the platform has for the first time ever introduced accident zones on the map and provided the nearest emergency contact information. The app also have information for categories including mechanic, highway emergency contact, hospitals, pharmacy, and toll gates.
The app can be used either to plan your road trip by ‘Search Along Route’ by entering the your source and destination or can be used real time location basis through ‘Search Near Me’ option, which would show nearest options in the range of 15 Kms.
The app also provides you with option of filters to narrow down your search. For example- for a family traveller, you can search restaurant having children play area/ credit card and other unique facilities. For night travellers, you can filter fuel pump which are open 24 hours with credit card facility. You can also search which fuel pump offers Nitrogen Air. The app has also partnered with major restaurants to offer exclusive discounts for travellers with Highway Delite app.
The app provide photos of all the facilities including washrooms at fuel pumps and restaurants, to enable travellers to make informed decisions about the outlets/ restaurants. The idea is to promote hygiene and safety of highway travellers and contribute towards “Swachh Bharat Mission”.
The app can be used pan India also with limitation of non-verified information. The verified route available on Highway Delite spans around 6000+ kms around Bangalore with information of more than 3000+ verified outlets, which includes-
