Hello there to all our blog viewers, releasing today on our Startup Theatre is one of the greatest network of Budding Entrepreneurs in the country - ECell, NIT Karnataka. Entrepreneurship Cell, NITK is a non-profit organization run by the students of NITK that aims at developing the entrepreneurial spirit of young students. They provide a platform for students to integrate their technological skills and business acumen in order to convert their ideas to ventures. Several members have started their own ventures in college and continued after graduation.
VISION
They believe that entrepreneurship is the key to unlock India's latent inventive potential. It will not only push India to the forefront of the world but also help elevate the quality of life in our country.
With this belief, E-Cell, NITK targets to help in the development of India's entrepreneurial ecosystem by enabling easy and efficient interaction between students, working professionals, aspiring entrepreneurs, mentors, angel investors, venture capitalists and corporates through initiatives comprising interactive sessions, competitions, conferences, etc.
EVENTS
- E-PITCH, the flagship B-plan competition at NITK Surathkal, is an inter-collegiate event, sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Students submit business plans and compete to earn up to Rs. 10 lakhs in funding. The winners get direct entry to the finals of IIMB’s Next Big Idea and enjoy mentorship support from NSRCEL, IIMB as well as incubation facilities from Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Park (STEP-NITK).
- TECHVENTURE is a design contest where students formulate a solution to an industry specific problem. The winners go on to build a prototype which is given to the industry. Last year, the team built a coconut de-shelling machine.
- ENTERPRISE is an exhilarating flagship event of the club that tests the business aptitude as well as the marketing skills of the participants. This event spans over a week and includes interviews and group discussions, leading to the final round, a B-plan competition and the actual sale of goods to college students. Each team gets to keep the profit made. The winning team is decided based on both the b-plan as well as the sales competition.
- E-WEEK is the fest conducted by E-Cell NITK, which includes our flagship event E-PITCH, other competitions like Mock Stock and various guest lectures and workshops.
- KEPs(Knowledge Exchange Programs) are sessions during which members organize video conferences with successful entrepreneurs and have discussions on finance, economics, business, and technology. These sessions are open to NITK students.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), India's largest entrepreneurship fraternity, has accredited the Entrepreneurship Cell of National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), as a high performance e-cell. The highest rating has been accredited to NITK in acknowledgement of its continuing persistence in fostering a vibrant culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. E-Cell, NITK has now grown into an organization having more than 50 members and partners including the Nadathur S Raghavan Center for Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL, IIM Bangalore), National Social Entrepreneurship Forum, department of Science and Technology, government of India and Science Technology and Entrepreneurship Park (STEP) and Intel.
- E-Cell NITK has more than 15 student startups currently operating from STEP. These ventures are student run and in hope of building a better future. They include CybrHome, Winkl, OddJobz, and more
- Some of India’s most successful startups like Practo, TaxiForSure and Delhivery have members of E-Cell NITK as their founders or in their founding teams.
